Starting and Running a Small Business

First thing you need to do when starting a smal business is choose the business you are going to run. you need to ask yourself these questions:

  1. Investment required?
  2. What are my resources?
  3. Tiptoe in or plunge?
  4. Does the business fit?
  5. Can it meet my needs?

If you tiptoe in it would be better because you can start part time from home rather than plunge in full time from home.

It's always better to start a business than buying an existing business or franchise.

Marketing is important because customers need to know:

  1. You exist
  2. Your product/service
  3. How it meets need
  4. Solves problems
  5. It's advantages
  6. Why it's different
  7. How to find you
  8. Who are my real customers and what do they want
  9. How can i find them
  10. How do I reach out to them
  11. What do I tell them

Customers don't exist to meet your needs you:

  1. Exist to meet theirs
  2. Products/service
  3. Location
  4. Hours of operation
  5. Pricing
  6. Service level
  7. Marketing campaigns

Shopping statistics show majority of people shop after 6pm m-f and weekends.

Build a relationship with your customer get to know them.

  1. Bond socially
  2. Be customer oriented
  3. Have well trained personal
  4. Empower to resolve customer issues

This is short and to the point, but I think it's mostly explaining how a small business is run, and not so much how it's started. When I think of starting a business, I think of lots of paperwork and that type of thing. This hub was very well done, regardless.
